Voice to text in Opera and Opera GX

Opera is built on the same engine as Chrome, so voice typing works well once permissions are set.

Opera and Opera GX users often assume voice typing is a Chrome only feature. It is not. Any web app that uses the browser microphone works in Opera with the same accuracy.

Allow the microphone in Opera

Open Settings from the O menu.
Go to Privacy and security, then Site settings, then Microphone.
Confirm the microphone is not blocked globally.
When Zahvox asks, choose Allow.

Handle Opera GX privacy features

Opera GX ships with tracker and ad blockers that are stricter than mainstream browsers. If voice does not start, temporarily allow scripts for the Zahvox tab and try again.

Use built in workspaces for voice tabs

Pin the Zahvox tab in a workspace called Writing. This keeps the mic session ready without hunting for a tab.

If the mic light does not appear, restart the browser.
If input is silent, check the input device in your OS.
If accuracy is low, try a wired headset.
