Writing modes for voice-to-writing

Writing modes will shape one voice session into the format you actually send: a note, an email, a Slack reply, a post draft, a meeting recap, or an outline. Modes are planned. The current free web tool captures and edits the raw transcript.

Writing modes are planned for Zahvox. Today users can use the free web tool to record, edit, copy, and download text. The planned writing modes will help users shape spoken thoughts into formats like notes, emails, replies, drafts, and outlines.

This feature is planned. The current Zahvox web tool does not include this yet.

What writing modes means

  • · A writing mode is a preset that reshapes the same raw voice into a specific format.
  • · Note mode keeps bullets and short lines for personal capture.
  • · Email mode adds a greeting, a clear ask, and a sign-off.
  • · Reply mode stays short, direct, and answers a specific message.
  • · Post mode tightens the hook and cuts filler for social or blog drafts.
  • · Outline mode groups points into headings and sub-bullets you can expand later.
  • · Meeting notes mode splits decisions, actions, and open questions.

Why this matters

  • · One idea rarely lands in one shape. The same story is a note, an email, and a post.
  • · Rewriting the same thought for each channel wastes the fresh energy of the recording.
  • · A mode is faster than a full rewrite and more reliable than a generic prompt.
  • · You keep the original voice while the format changes around it.

How writing modes may work in Zahvox

Planned workflow · not live yet

  • · Record once in /tool. Then choose a mode from a small mode picker.
  • · The mode applies structure and light editing rules to the transcript.
  • · You can switch modes without losing the raw text, so you can compare outputs.
  • · Modes will layer on top of AI cleanup and, later, personas.
  • · You keep full edit control after the mode runs.

Planned workflow examples

Example of the planned workflow · not live yet

Founder update

Record a two-minute status. Switch to note mode for the private log and post mode for a public update.

Client reply

Record the answer once. Reply mode outputs a short, direct email tied to the incoming message.

Weekly post

Record a story from the week. Post mode tightens the hook and trims filler for a draft you can polish.

Meeting recap

Record the walk-out summary. Meeting notes mode splits decisions, actions, and follow-ups.

Outline for a long piece

Talk through the arc. Outline mode returns headings and sub-bullets you expand later.

Example of the planned experience

Rough spoken input

ok so quick recap of the call with maria uh we agreed on the scope we drop the analytics dashboard from phase one and we ship the core flow first she wants a draft agreement by friday and i need to loop in james on pricing

Planned output

Call recap · Maria Decisions: · Drop analytics dashboard from phase one. · Ship the core flow first. Actions: · Send draft agreement by Friday. · Loop in James on pricing.

Planned output. Meeting-notes mode would produce this from the raw session.

Current limitations

  • · Writing modes are not live in the free web tool today.
  • · AI cleanup, which modes will build on, is in development.
  • · Long sessions still depend on browser speech recognition behavior.
  • · No account exists today, so mode preferences cannot be saved yet.
